Hi Eric The pain does not start straight away when I'm sitting it gradually increases and this is the same when I'm walking or running the burning sensation gradually comes on. I have tried both methods of stretching and I get less pain when I stretch with my foot in a natural position. Many Thanks James

Hey, Does the pain increase immediately when sit down or does it come after a while? Is the pain during the actual sitting or can you feel it more when you get up after sitting? When you walk/run, is there any sharp pains or just the burning sensation? When you stretch the hamstrings do you keep your foot neutral? If you try to point your foot down (plantar flexion of the foot) vs. up (dorsal flexion) does that make a difference on your pain? Take care!

Hey, Glad to hear you're doing better! Just like you said, being in this situation for years, it's going to take some time to sort it out.. Since you're improving I usually go by "if it's not broke, don't try to fix it", what you're doing is obviously working for you. My best tip would be to not forget stretching the other internal rotators (the adductors) along with strengthening the glutes to improve external rotation. Best of luck to you!

27 y/o with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Every physical therapist, manual osteopath, physiatrist is having trouble diagnosing SIJ dysfunction. Left leg is longer than Right in supine, long sitting, and in prone. Difference varies between 1cm to 4cm. All landmarks are lower on the left than the right in all positions, except PSIS seems slightly higher in standing and even in other positions. Significant pain near left greater trochanter for 5 years and in wheelchair. Left PSIS feels very loose and...

Hello, I am an Italian physiotherapist, specialized in musculoskeletal field, and I am wondering to move to Cape Town, South Africa, with my husband. I know nothing about our job as physio there, so I am there to ask you if someone can give me any useful information about it. Do you know if there is need for physiotherapist out there? And if so, do the salaries are high enough to have a decent life, compared to the cost and quality of life in Cape Town? Would you suggest me any website,...

Patient background: I am age 61 and for 40 years have been a recreational runner/jogger. I have had a few injuries over the years - left knee meniscus, right hip stress reaction - but nothing in the right knee until now. Injury Description: Seven months ago I was laying on my right side on the couch with a small pillow under the lateral side of my right knee. My wife was sitting next to my feet, and my right foot was tucked underneath her leg. I fell asleep while watching TV and then she...

Hi I am 76 , with a pre-diabetic condition, but otherwise in excellent health, very active year round ( gym, swimming, windsurfing) AS detailed below, I noticed a totally unexpected but real and considerable improvement in my jogging endurance three months after being put on metformin and, I should add, after a three months’ interruption of my cardiovascular training, with the exception of a few windsurfing sessions and some laid-back cycling, certainly not as effective as jogging for...

Well the noticable size difference in tfls, as well as glutes. And im referring to glute med. Tfl on the left side is chronic in ache/tight and sore, any rotation of my leg forces a TFL contraction. And what ive been doing is serious TFL tissue work. And leg extension and 1 legged deadlifts with kettle bettle as well as monster band walks. The weak TFL is noticeable cause there is next to no TFL contraction on external and internal rotation of my leg. Doing weight internal rotation movements,...

Hey! Sorry to hear about your issues. Sounds like it could be the biceps femoris acting up. Are you feeling anything on the inside or just the outside? Have you checked your lower back? Considering you’re having problems both when you activate it (walking/running) and when you’re resting it, we might be dealing with some type of impingement process in the lower back that’s causing the hamstrings to tighten up and become irritated. Any numbness/tingling or sharp/shooting pains down the...

Hey! Sorry to hear about your issues! First off, how have you come to the conclusion that the TFL is weak/strong and that the glutes are weak/strong? Are we talking glute max or med/min? You seem to know what your’e talking about about so I won’t elaborate but feel free to ask q’s of what I mean! What type of work have you been doing with you’re glutes? Having been a powerlifter I find it hard to believe that the lack of external rotation in the left (non operated) leg is due to...

Hey Joshlaycock, Sorry to hear about your problems. When you say you’re having trouble standing on one leg the next day, is it on the leg on the side you’re having problems or is it bilateral? Are we talking sharp/stabbing pains or more of a dull ache?
