    Lightbulb Workplace Exercises

    Taping
Hello, Can anyone recommend some general workplace exercises? I recently took up this job that involves long hours of sitting and a significant chunk of my evenings recently have been spent in warm bath water. I don't gym, but I think it's high time to join the bandwagon!

Any simple tips are highly appreciated though, thank you.

    Re: Workplace Exercises

Well, I have managed to dig up a few basic routines to help me get by.

Life Hack has quite a number that come with pictorial illustrations, although what I don't like much about 'deskercises' is unless you are in a walled-in office, you might end up being 'that guy who does weird workouts at our office'. But guess you're damned if you and damned if you don't, right? If you can bring yourself to do them, they are a great way to reduce body stiffness without getting yourself all sweaty.

Simple shoulder stretches and leg lifts don't seem to be over the top, though, and these, coupled with occasional breaks and optimised workstation placement, I guess could help with the body aches.

Dr. Axe has a list of desk exercises that won't have everyone staring and giving you side glances, along with a host of other helpful advice. Who knew you could even work out the abs while sitting at your desk!

Does anyone have any office-friendly workouts that get you results without leaving you sweaty?

    Re: Workplace Exercises

    Must have Kinesiology Taping DVD
    Hi, Ress!
And thanks for sharing these workouts.
I can add some general tips for desk workers.
    - Try to take a walk around the office every hour or so just to get your body moving. With a consistent workout schedule, you should have a lot less risk getting something than someone who works out once a week but again, everyone is different. Walking or going to the gym during lunch helped me a lot just because it's in-between movement that my body needs.
    - Also, is there any way you could have a standing desk? Standing in front of your workplace might be more healthy than sitting the 12 hour shifts since you change positions more often. I know a programmer who swapped to table that was standing height and a bar stool (in case he's really tired, so he can sit for a while) to keep his posture.

    Hope that helps. Stay healthy!
