What are your experiences of using the Nintendo Wii for rehab?
Hi
<O:p</O:p
I am working on an elderly rehab ward that provides a number of exercise groups using a range of resources. We have recently acquired the Nintendo Wii and Wii fit and started to introduce it to patients. The patients have been very open and welcoming of the new technology. <O:p</O:p

I have just started using the wii fit on the patients with poor balance, parallel bars were needed either side to help correct their balance. They have found it quite useful in seeing their own centre of gravity and correcting it, especially the orthopaedic patients that have had lower limb operations.<O:p</O:p

I am interested in hearing other therapists experiences of using the wii.
Hope to hear from you.
Thanks
Re: What are your experiences of using the Nintendo Wii for rehab?
Hello,
I have been using it for the past 18months with a reasonable amount of success, although I have used it as a tool rather than a treatment, as I don't believe that the software available at the moment and the lack of research really justifies depending on its success.
I have put the information that I have uploaded some info on the internet, based on my own experience and the experience of the team I work within. The website is Wiihabilitation for Therapy and covers the main reasons why we are using the Wii and a break down of the games that we have been using.
Hope its of some help,
Regards
