Switching career to Occupational Therapist

Hi All
After searching info regarding Physiotherapist in google, I found this forum which I believe is very helpful.
Currently, I'm working in Singapore. I have Diploma in Hotel Management. Now I wanted to switch my career to Health Service.
I'm very much in Dilemma that whether I will be able to enter in this career. I would like to start by taking my Diploma in Occupational Therapist. Then to degree course.
I'm thinking of studying either in Canada or New Zealand.
I will be very much appreciated if someone advise me on this.

If you want to be an occupational therapist as opposed to a physiotherapist try googling the name plus the countries you are interested in plus education etc. Then look for the admissions requirements. Although some physios also do occupational therapy and have therefore done 2 undergraduate courses most of us are either/ or. The work may overlap but it's not exactly the same. I doubt if many OT's read this website so you might not get much advice.

I wanted to study in Canada, so anyone have any idea about the good college or university there. I'm thinking of doing diploma and then do degree.

OK, here more information. I've just used Google and typed in "occupational therapy+university+canada" and come up with loads of information including entry criteria for example Winnipeg university for doing occupational therapy. You have to search through the details to find out if your previous educational qualifications will allow you to get in somewhere to study. Normally one needs the education to get into university courses to do OT or PT but mature students may be able to do it if they have reached standards somehow otherwise. Then you have to find out how foreign students can get in as you would have to prove language proficiency and have enough money to pay for the course. For where is the best place etc for OT you might get information from PT students on this web site who are studying with OT's or better still an OT web site.
