27 y/o hemi needs help please!!
Hi.
Last September I had a craniotomy and a benign tumor in the 4th ventricle of the cerebellum was removed. The tumor was located on the midline but slightly more so in the left hemisphere. After surgery I was left with a weak right side and a balance problem.
Fast forward to now and I still have a coordination problem with my right side. Both arm and leg seem to display a jerky, inaccurate movement. My balance is somewhat better but needs further work. Atleast I can sit/stand without assistance.
My original PT/OT made sure that I always had good posture and when pushed around while seated I always returned to center. I was also made to sit in a chair for 2-3 hours a day.
I need to know what approach to take? Recommend any specific therapies or exercises? Books to read? I am obviously not a therapist but need to try due to ins. problems, unfortunately.
I was a 27 year old in above average shape or so I thought with little to no prior history. Please help!! I am going to a rehab hospital in 3 months but do not want to waste valuable time!
edit: I forgot to add that I currently have no P.T. or O.T. due to insurance reasons.
