Has anyone worked in Portugal?
Hi,
I wonder if anyone has any info or experience working in Portugal.
I'm UK trained and 13 years qualified and would like to work in the Algarve in a private practice and just wonder how easy it is to get registered etc. Indeed has anyone set up their own practice there?
I obtained some info from the CSP and I understand that speaking Portuguese well is probably essential but if any other physio has had experience going out there to work, then please get in touch.
Is it still the case that there is no clinical autonomy and that practice is only allowed under the supervision of a Fisiatria or hospital consultant?
Hope to hear from anyone
Chris
Re: Has anyone worked in Portugal?
Hi all,
First I would like to say that I`m new in here, and congratulate all people working in forum.
I`m from Portugal, recently graduated in Physiotherapy. Here the future is very "black" to us...We have a lot of Physiotherapists working in Portugal, and increasing every year...Our practice depends on demand of Medical prescription and we have a very little space to implement our will.
The worst is the earning, about 5 euros per hour...
Every one here are unhappy with our professional situation, every seeking to get away to other countries where we can be recognized like real phisiotherapists...(Australia, France, England and recently Angola)
Is very sad...but true
Cumpliments to all
PS: Sorry about my English...i`m better in talking :o

Hi Jose,
Thanks for getting back and sorry to hear that things are so bad for you.
I've heard there are private practices in the Algarve so have you looked into working there.
I hope you get something soon
Chris
