Australian Exams

Hi all,
I am moving to Australia shortly from the UK and was wondering if anyone had any experience of the AECOP exams that you now have to sit. Are they difficult etc. etc.?

It is lengthy, rather expensive and not easy. If have put u off, just remeber that you are going to one of the best countries on the globe!
They keep changing the rules and it has now become a lot harder for UK physios too. For me (netherlands) it existed of a theory, technical ability and practical exam.
Theory is 300 multiple guess questions, TAE is 1,5 hours and u show that u know what to do and what NOT to do, all about safe practice etc. Practical is 3 hours, 1 hour each for; musculoskeletal, neuro and cardiothoracic.

Have you investigated registering in New Zealand and then transferring registration to Aus by the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition agreement - Don't know if it's still an option but you used to be able to do this and bypass the exam system. Has anyone actually done the screening exam?? WHAT'S THE STANDARD LIKE?

You will have to work through the following steps to gain registration
and work in Australia.

1. Access the Aecop website www.uq.net.au\aecop (please note the forward slash before aecop). Click on Eligibility and Skills Assessment Forms
Down load PDF form.

2. Fill out form and return it to Aecop.

3. Await advice from Aecop as to what is required from you. This will most probably involve examinations and will take some time.

4. Once you have AECOP registration, you will have to apply to the registration board in the state you wish to work.

5. Obtain a working visa from the Australian Embassy in your capital city.

6. Keep in contact with The Placement Company as to your progress.

We will begin a recruitment search as your registration clearance nears.
