Injured Foot Help.

Hi,

I am after some advice if possible?

I am a 32 year old male and was playing football on Saturday just gone when I challenged a player for a ball and I kicked the bottom of his boot with the top of my foot. The pain was pretty bad but I carried on for a few minutes until I jumped to head the ball, I landed normally on just my left foot first (which is the one I has hurt a few moments before) and I felt a very sharp shooting pain down the top of my foot.

I woke un Sunday as was still in a lot of pain so went to A & E, they did an X-Ray which apparently showed nothing and the doctor said it was light tissue damage and to rest it. It is now 4 days later and I am still getting an incredible shooting pain in my foot when ever I put any weight on it and it is throbbing constantly.

The pain just does not feel like bruise pain and I wondered if I could have broken something but it has for some reason not shown up on the X-Ray? Also when I touch my bone in my foot (the one next to my big toe) I get a very strange sensation along the bone and into the toe...It's difficult to explain but I do not get the same feeling when I do the same on any of the other bones on either foot?

Any suggestions you may be able to make would be greatly appreciated as I am not sure where to go from here especially after already going to A & E?

Might be a small crack that wouldn't have shown on an x-ray. Is there night pain? Is the pain on a joint? Can you see any obvious swelling or discoloration (bruising)? If so the joint might need some simple mobilisation to restore normal function. The later can cause pain down the toe.

If it was a crack there's not much that can be done except to rest from aggravating activities e.g. running, jumping and see how it settles down.

Yes there is pain during the night especially if I catch the top of my foot with the other for example - to be honest at the moment it is just throbbing constantly.

The strange thing is I have had no swelling or bruising at all and I have had no pain in my anke joint. The pain is on top of my foot (where your laces would be on a pair of trainers) and when I walk or weight bear at all there is a sharp stabbing pain. It also hurts if I try to lift my toes up towards me.

I have booked an appt to see the doctor tomorrow for some further advice.
