dynamic hip screw

I went through DHS on 27th May 2009, MY op was about 7 hrs plus and the reason given by the surgeon is that "it was quite complecated op because the thigh muscles were not allowing the bone to come to the place so it took about 7 hrs "

now almost 6 months are gone and i am still not able to walk and feel pain in my hip and specially in my knee, and my knee is not allowing me for full load bearing.

x-ray shows normal regarding knee and DHS, my querry is that if the muscles are damaged or removed during op, how long it will take to rebuild the muscles and why i am not still able to walk.

What kind of exercises should i do ?

ideally in normal circumstances you should be able to walk without support and bend you knees freely by this time.
what happened in your case is quite confusing
7hr surgery
difficulty in weight bearing
difficulty in bending knee.
i suggest you to take a second openion and if possible contact a physio experienced in musculoskeletal conditions

I agree, something was up with that surgery. It should not have taken 7hrs and you should be pretty normal by now. Get a second opinion.

At 36 your very young for a DHS - was it traumatic or do you have an underlying condition that caused you to need one? if you do there maybe a clue there as to why it took so long etc and why you aren't back on your feet.

i'd definitely concur.. get a second opinion... and a CT scan of pelvis to knee, and or bone scan to see if there is peri-prosthetic fracture or something along those lines. you should be walking freely well and truly by now, if you have no other underlying conditions or illnesses.
