Locum work - use agency or not?
Hi there,
I was considering doing some locum work in hospitals in Queensland next year, to combine work and travel. I was wondering whether I should use an agency or rather contact the hospitals myself? It seems quite tempting that somebody would take the hassle out of the job search especially with locum work.
Any pros/cons, any disadvantages (e.g. financially) that I might have with an agency?
I would love to hear from people who have done the same! (By the way, I have full registration and permanent residency)
Re: Locum work - use agency or not?
Iīm still undecided whether itīs better to sign up with an agency or to look for jobs independently. It seems that most of the locum jobs (especially in public hospitals) arenīt advertised. I imagine it would be quite time-consuming to write applications to various hospitals to find out about locum positions. But then again, many of the hospitals might not use an agency to recruit staff.
Any suggestions, guys?

I would always try an agency as the first port of call. They can get you started and once you're in the workforce in OZ you can go it on your own.
Wavelength International are great in OZ. You can contact them here: http://www.physiobob.com/assistance.aspx

Thanks for the answer. I have already been in touch with wavelength.
By the way, Iīve already been working in Australia for about 1.5 years.
