Anyone do Biofeedback for Posture
Hi Everyone,
I have a private patient, whom I'm treating for really poor posture. She is hyperkyphotic and unable to maintain her head in neutral. I'm working on a ton of stretching for the pectoralis musculature and upper cervical extensors, which are both very tight, but I was thinking of trying biofeedback to retrain her to relax all of the compensatory musculature (upper traps, suboccipitals) and strengthen the weak muscles. I've never done biofeedback (just learned about the concept in school). Has anyone used it for this purpose and if so, could you steer me in the direction to find a unit i could bring to my clients home. I'm located in NYC, NY.
Thanks in advance.
Re: Anyone do Biofeedback for Posture
Biofeedback.. there's many ways an means to do it. The stimulus could be visual, hearing, touch etc. Visual- Use mirror. Hearing- just tell her.... My favourite has also been using sports tape to provide constant stimulus as a reminder for his/her posture throughout the day. For example- Hyperkyphotic, correct her posture a little by simply telling her. When that is done, immediately put a tape (preferably sports/kinesio tape) parallel to her spine from top (cervical or thoracic spine down to the lumbar spine At the back) IT WORKS nice with back exercises.
