working somewhere abroad...
Hi I'm an Italian guy studying physiotherapy at my last year...I'd like doing experience abroad working and specializing myself...I like manual therapy...Could someone help me in understanding if is possible do that and if there are some countries better than others for advanced techniques and approaches, specializations and (why not?) also salary?
I know physiotherapy is developing very fast in Canada, New Zealand, Australia...but also France and Switzerland aren't bad...aren't them?
Thank you all!!
Reizen:)
Re: working somewhere abroad...
Hi reizen,
your name sounds very funny to me because it actually means travelling in Dutch....
The best advice I can give is... make sure you know the language of the country you choose.......or are willing to learn it beforehand.
Our profession is very different per country (definite difference in north and south european countries) and communication is a must if you want to treat patients.
Good luck....
Esther
Re: working somewhere abroad...
Hi Reizen, perhaps the best way to extend your knowledge would be to study in any of the countries you have suggested. In general you wouldn't be accepted by the registration boards to work with an Italian qualification. That's not to say it no good but in many countries the course work doesn't cover the requirements for others.
By doing a post graduate program somewhere that is affordable (Canada is a good option as I have worked there through the University of Alberta and living was inexpensive - Think David Magee). Then perhaps you could get some type of assistant work as well.
Registration is forever changing though in it's requirements. There are some useful links here: Physio Reg Links so it is always worth seeing what's the latest.
Best of luck :)

well if you are not qualified on working on some European countries you can work in some countries like middle east specifically in dubai since dubai was starting to become the finance capital of the middle east so thats the most ideal place to work in middle east.
