New Zealand or Australia - which is easier / cheaper?

Hi all,

I am seriously contemplating a move to probably NSW Australia with my family and have investigated the visa process etc in Australia.

But looking at the physiotherapy registration process is seems quite expensive to go through the process with the Australian Board with the written and clinical exams.

I am therefore considering applying for NZ registration and using this to then get registered to work in Aus.

Would like to get people views and experiences especially regarding costs!

for the situation in NZ pls. have a look here:
The Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand > Registration - Overseas Qualified Physiotherapists
The application cost is NZ$ 1.200,-.
On top of that is all the copying and certifications, the lawyers cost for the declaration and of course your time spend on collecting everything for your portfolio.
From all the reports here in this forum, a British BSc within the last few years should have no problems obtaining NZ regsitration.

Once you are registered, you will need to apply for and get an Annual Practicing Certificate.
The Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand > Annual Practising Certificate
This is currently $250,-.

You will then be able to apply for registration under the TTMRA in the Australian state you would like to work in (Australia does not yet have a national Physioboard).

This is an example for NSW, the current coast is $110,-.

It took me about 5 minutes on the net to check this.
So, I cannot believe that this is actually the info you were looking for.
Could you specify more???

I have looked up similar information. I just want to check that i can obtain my NZ registration and the convert it to Aus via the path you discuss. Do you know if there is a need for me to actually practise in NZ prior to my Aus application? Any cannot find anything that stipulates i have to do this but don't know of any small print that i might have missed.

you do not need to actually have worked or obtained a job as a Physiotherapist in NZ; however, you need to have a current Annual Practicing Certificate - which allows you to take on work in NZ.
