finger ligament repair

Hello folks.

I'm about to undergo surgery on Wednesday to repair (tighten) a lax radial collateral ligament of the right hand little finger's PIP joint. Having read the horror experiences of extended immobilisation, what is the amount of time that the finger should be splinted for?

I'll discuss with my doctor of course but I'm just looking for some info here.

Is splinting necessary after PIP joint ligament repair, or could I proceed straight to buddy taping? If I splint, for how long?

I've been told by some doctors that you should start ROM exercises 7 - 10 days post surgery. Does this hold for the type of procedure I'm about to undergo?
