Left side hemiplegic

HELP HELP ...I need professional opinion, my Mother had a stroke about 2 months ago , left side hemiplegic .. She is 76 years old, over Wight, She had been discharged from the hospital about a month ago, receiving daily physiotherapy at home for about 1 and a half to 2 hours per day... every session she suffers a lot of pain (at least that is what she claim) screaming from the pain calling for someone to help her.. is this pain during the session is normal, or are we doing something wrong.
I have to add that she was not an active person before the stroke, she use to move very little and her both knees are totally damaged .. pleeeeeease I WANT SOMEONE TO HELP ME :(

Laila,we need to know (1)what type of exercises she is receiving(2)Who does these exercises.
I think some sort of talking(counselling)is needed. You(family members)should take it easy.

... and we also need to know why she gets the Physiotherapy.

Normally, pain should not occur at all with exercises.
So, she either experiences pain because her knees are troubling her, in which case the exercises or mobilisations need to be altered, or, she experiences pain because she objects to the intervention.

We do no longer tend to force patients doing any exercises, even if we know that they will be beneficial, as Physio treatment these days is patient goal driven. So, basically, if there is a weakness - you do strengthening exercises, if the patient wants to get stronger.
I would let her determine what her goals are and assist her in suggeting ways on how to achieve them. This is the only way on how to get her bying in to a programme, which ultimately then will be successful.
