Supports/braces and suspected RSI

Thought I'd just be a cheeky one trying to see if I get any help on here so thanks for anticipating and even helping the likes of me with a whole sub-forum :D

I'm 25 and about four years ago started getting what I was told was most likely RSI in my right wrist. Since then it's occurred 2-3 times per year for 4-5 days at a time; it comes on very suddenly and apparently at random, is seriously painful to try to move and I lose most of the range of movement - at worst, when I hold my arms in front of me horizontally at shoulder height (as if resting them on a tall table) and fully relax the wrists, the left hand will drop down normally at an angle of about 75-80 degrees but the right will stop at around 30 degrees - I can then force it down a fraction more but only with severe pain and it will stop fully around 40 degrees. Backwards motion is similarly limited. Sorry if this is making barely any sense and if my estimates are way out but you get the idea! :( There is often pain or discomfort when moving some of the fingers, particularly index and the pain sometimes extends more dully up the arm.

Basically, the problem kicked in again last Monday so we're now at the end of day 10 and rather than having eased up, it's seriously angry - worse than usual and showing no sign of going. Occupational health wheels have been set in motion at work - I'm in front of a computer all day and have the standard gel keyboard wrist pad and mousepad - and I've got a GP appt upcoming (joy). I normally use a basic neoprene wraparound wrist support but it's been suggested I could do with a decent brace, thought process being I'm strapping it up and assuming that's it done, so still putting it through too much motion. I've been avoiding painkillers for this same reason, afraid it'll mask the problem and I'll make it worse. I'm now confused at the number of options after having looked online, getting a tad fed up and not dancing around at the thought of my local PCT's waiting list if my GP refers. Does anyone have any recommendations, especially for a good brace or support, e.g. brands (on PMs if needed)?
