IT Band syndrome - clunking at the top of thigh? questions?

I self diagnosed myself with ITB syndrome. This has been on going for several months now. There is no pain.

When my leg goes from flexion to extension and just before it is fully extended it makes a loud clunking sound at my hip/top of thigh. Its the right leg but also sometimes the left leg,.

Ive been doing several ITB stretches every evening for a few months now.

Im wondering how long this will actually take to fully stretch and stop clunking?

Im going to give foam rolling a try?
