Where to start after high school if you want to be a physio?
Hi guys,
I am a newcomer in Canada. I finished high school in Saudi Arabia and I want to begin the journey to study physiotherapy. But I don't know where to start and how!
I have many questions in my head, I don't know if high school enough? What do I need to start? Is studying physical therapy starts after I get a diploma in science? Or I can start through one of the colleges of physical therapy? I have heard about physiotherapy competency exam, am I ready for it, or i should start with something else?
I hope that I get an answer from you, help me and help those who are in the same cases as well.
Thank you
Ahmed

Oh high school in Canada or in most places for that matter isn't enough to be a physiotherapist. In Canada you need to have a Master's degree in Physiotherapy and pass the Physiotherapy Competency Exam (theory and practical) in order to practice.
In Canada, you'll have to finish your Bachelor's degree first. Most universities prefer you have a degree in Science/Life Sciences/Kinesiology before you apply for a graduate program. This is because you'll have some of the prerequisite courses that the graduate programs ask for.
I'm not sure if the deadline to apply for an undergraduate program has passed or not. It depends on which province you're in. If you're in Ontario, then it's best to check OUAC (Ontario Universities' Application Centre) for more information. Ontario Universities' Application Centre
Each university has different prerequisites for their undergraduate programs. Best to go through each university and contact them! Hope it helps!
