Can a UK trained Physio get work in Flordia USA?
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone can offer me some advice? I am hoping to move to Florida to work as a physiotherapist but the registration process has completely baffled me! I completed my 3 year B. Sc Physiotherapy in Manchester, England and I am working in a permanent rotational post there but as far as I can gather a three year degree does not satisfy the criteria for the USA accreditation. However, I also have a B. Sc in Biomedical Science and Information Technology which took four years to complete. Does anyone know if I can use this also to fulfil the necessary criteria?
Also where is the best place to start with all the paperwork for this? Should I try to have a job lined up and then look for accreditation or vice versa?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Suzanne :)

Re: Can a UK trained Physio get work in Flordia USA?
Hi Suzanne,
I am actually having my credentials evaluated by the FCCPT at the moment to work in florida also. I went to uni in the uk and have just got a band 6 post but would love to work in the states. I think its tough for us as we are the only country that doesnt have a 4 yr degree programm and from threads ive read its general education that seems to be the problem. Youve got another degree so it should help!! Have you had any luck with any other advice?
