Re: Physiotherapy Schools
Hi D:
I am Ren Townsend. I have read your post, and maybe this will help.
The English programmes have already started for the year. Even the ones which start in January or Feburary will be starting in 2011. So, this information is correct. It will be the 2011 year your are applying for.
As far as Australia is concerned, their calander is the reverse as ours. They are just about to end their school year in November or December. The next school year will begin in late January, Feburary, or March--depending on which school you are looking at--so, it may be worth a look if you want to go now. The programmes start at the Undergraduate level. They are very good. They tend to deal with orthopedic or musculoskeletal issues a lot. This may appeal to you.
One more thing. You need to look at these things as an International Student. If you click on this tag, they will tell you everything you need to know--costs, requirements, housing--in order to apply. Also, they will start to put you into that community which may help make the transition easier.
I hope this helps.
Take care--
Ren
Re: Physiotherapy Schools
Personally I suggest you complete your physiotherapy degree In North America - The reason being getting registered to work in Australia / NZ and other parts of the world is far easier with a North American Doctorate of Physical Therapy... while going from a bachelors degree (found in Australia, NZ and England (honors) ) into a country that has a doctorate programme is far more difficult. The other aspect to consider is that international fee's can be excessive.
You have to decide what is right for you and consider how difficult it will be for you to re-register in your homeland with a foreign degree.
Re: Physiotherapy Schools
If you are looking to work in a particular country then I would suggest that you undertake the masters training in that country. Otherwise the additional study might not get you registered where you are wanting to work. Pick the country you want to work in and then ask for suggestion from there.
Re: Physiotherapy Schools
Ya physiobob is right. Actually every country has its own program for doctorate studies. Like if you are planning to work in England and has done your degree from America then you have to pass a test in England for getting the license to practice in England. So its better if you first decide where you want to practice and then do your degree from that country.
