Partial Biceps Tendon Tear (distal)!! What to do???
Two months ago I was deadlifting and heard a pop and a weird straining feeling in my left bicep, which prompted me to drop the bar asap!
Sharp pain and weakness immediately, followed by decreased pain over following days however weakness and specific pain remains even now. At the elbow it seems as though 1/3 of the muscle is pulled up.
<O:p
Doctor didn't want to send for an MRI as he thought it was tendonitis. I insisted and got one which revealed a 1.5 cm tear.
I am a power lifter, and am entering the officer enlistment into the military within the next year. Is this something I can recover from? I’m feeling sharp pain in my forearm and bicep during any - curl, chin-up, pull-up, reverse curl, and even holding my daughter in that arm is hard and fatigue sets in quick. <O:p
I work as a strength coach and I’m having trouble doing the "rest" part, and unless i'm actually off work I’m not sure how I can recover properly.<O:p
<O:p</O:p
I really need advice?? Is Physio the right option? Or is Surgery appropriate? I need full strength back for work and my career change ASAP... what is the fastest means to that.
<O:p</O:pThanks so much for the help I’m really down about this injury.
<O:p</O:pMatt
p.s. after a surgical fix, how long and what is involved in the rehab process??

Re: Partial Biceps Tendon Tear (distal)!! What to do???
I've looked through the posts with regard to Partial Bicep tears and found the info useful.
My question is more about which method is going to produce a stronger result; surgery or pt only? as well as how long am i looking at with regard to pt after surgery before I can get back to chins (as this is a requirement for the military)??
Thanks so much,
Matt
