I want to buy a heart rate monitor to structure my running and cycling.
A cardiopulmonary stress test is recommended to establish the anaerobic threshold and probably the max heart rate.
As it is my resting pulse rate is 37 so text book calcs will have a limited use. EG max heart rate = 220-age= 172. The max I get in the swimming pool is about 130.
So who does these tests and if not the NHS how much do they cost?
