Punch to shoulder - now making cracking noise
A week ago my shoulder took quite a hard hit, ever since then I hear a clicking/cracking noise 75% of the time I move my arm around by my side. This does not happen with my other arm and never happened before I took the hit.
I understand that it can be quite normal for some people to have clicking joints however I am positive that the incident has damaged something which is causing this to happen. I do not feel any pain however my shoulder has been what I can only describe as aching if I lean on it for too long. I'm still very young (16 in a few days) and would hate to see my shoulder causing me any future problems later on in life.
Thanks! :)
Re: Punch to shoulder - now making cracking noise
Hi Apples
Best to have it checked out, particularly if there is a painful click. It might be worth seing your medico and getting it examined along with an image.
On the positive, if the area is mildly bruised the muscles may temporarily change their tension (increased guarding) and this can lead joints to click and crack around just due to the recently changed tension - the clicks are then painless. in this case it is nothing to worry about.
However I would always err on the side of caution following a traumatic episode.
