Masters of Physio in Western Australia- which uni?
Hi all,
im in the process of moving to Western Australia and need advise on which university to study my Masters of Physio at (either Curtin or ECU) i dont know much about either University, only what they have told me and who can believe that.
Im only in my 2nd year of my Science degree with a double major of Anatomy and Physiology so which ever uni choose i need to also finish my final year there.
any advise would be much appreciated :)
Re: Masters of Physio in Western Australia- which uni?
curtin is the oldest school in WA and traditionally has an excellent world class reputation for both education and research - particularly strong is the musculoskeletal aspect. Unless thongs have changed very recently that would be the one to plug for - some locals may be better informed than me.

I have had the pleasure of supervising students from both Curtin Uni and ECU. I also studied my physio degree at Curtin. I have to say that ECU students seem to have a more up to date and extensive knowledge base on musculoskeletal and sports evidence based assessment and treatment. I was quite impressed with ECU, however it is still very new (2nd or 3rd year group coming through i think) which means they may still have a few bugs to sort out. Gcoe is right though traditionally Curtin is up there, however I think they have rested on this laurel for too long and their content needs to be updated to the current evidence base supported by current literature (not stuff that is at least 20 years old). Otherwise Latrobe university in Melbourne has a fantastic programme

Hi - as you are not a physiotherapist already, I am unsure about the undergraduate/masters entry-level programs. I have had dealings with Curtin physios and there are many benefits from studying under people like Peter O'Sullivan, Gary Allison, Steve Edmondston to name a few...ECU - don't know of anyone there sorry :( ...
...when you do become a physio, the University of Western Australia (UWA) runs a very good Masters in Manual Therapy for those wanting to specialise further into the MSK field...I graduated from there in 2007 and teach on the course once per semester.
Their website is Centre for Musculoskeletal Studies.
