patient not making any progress
hello all..
i have a 54 year old patient who had a cva two months ago. her second cva in 4 years. it's a right cva. i have been seeing her for the past month. she can now sit independently and sit to stand independently and stand independently but she is failing to walk independently. we have been trying walking for the past 3 weeks. she either pushes backwards, forwards or to the right when taking a step.
what do i do to help her?? she's getting frustrated.
Re: patient not making any progress
just to be clear, have you tried using any walking aids with this lady like a frame? if not it could be because she needs the extra stablility and support as well as the confidence not to fall back.
If you have tried that, what about getting her to practice stepping 1 leg forward and then back again? or doing some exercises in side lying getting her used to the gait pattern??
hope that helps a bit
