shoulder dislocation HELP please.
I recently dislocated my shoulder during a snowboarding trip and i'm having some serious depression. I was a gym rat before this incident being at the gym everyday for about 4 years. this has taken me out of that routine. i've noticed a very obvious difference in my shoulders, its causing me to be very paranoid and get worked up over my shoulder. i've had 2 ex rays and am currently waiting on the results from the
mri. i'm looking basically for some positive reinforcement and maybe whats wrong with the shoulder (the unevenness)
Please if you know anything or have had the same issue, please, please respond.
Thank you.
Re: shoulder dislocation HELP please.
if the difference b/w the shoulders is that the injured one kind of sags compared to the unaffected one, then that is to be expected from a recent dislocation as the muscles are still in a little shock so aren't contracting as much and the other passive structures that hold your arm on your body have been stretched out; good news is that with proper progressive exercise you can likely regain full use of your shoulder and go back to all activity; bad news is that you may be slightly more susceptible to dislocating again if you take a bad spill and get your arm wrenched around again and some orthopedic surgeons use three dislocations in one year = surgery as a rule of thumb; there are plenty of protocols online regarding rehab from dislocation; read up on precautions before you get started though...gotta run. good luck
Re: shoulder dislocation HELP please.
Hi i work in Elite rugby, it is very rare that you dislocate without a tear off cuff or labrum and in the worst cases this involves the bicep tendon being dislodged and occupying the glenoid capsule/space in certain positions. You would be better to get an athrogram as the reason your shoulders may now be different is the damaged shoulder cannot access its full range and power due to boimechanical dysfunction therefore the muscles loose their tone and structure
hope this helps
