lateral lower leg pain with neuropathy
Hello,
I am hoping you can help me. I have a sharp pain that feels like a charley horse on the side of my calf. This is especially worse when I stand for long periods and walk. It is relieved with sitting and especially lying down flat. If I don't sit down after the pain starts I start to feel numbness and tingling and eventually my toes are numb. I spoke to a doctor friend and he says it may be Piriformis syndrome...is he right? and what can i do?
Thanks!
Re: lateral lower leg pain with neuropathy
Sounds like you have Sciatica, its a set of symptoms produced when your sciatic nerve originating from the back is irritated or compressed along its course. Piriformis syndrome can cause sciatcia, however, you may need to visit a physiotherapy clinic to confirm it through screening. Are you also experiencing some back problems cause narrowing of root canals in your back or some disc bulging that may compress nerve roots can also create these symptoms. Its important to know what really is causing the problems as it will influence the type of treatment / therapeutic exercises that you should receive.
