Thigh pains, overdoing it?
Hello and thanks for reading!
After years of not doing a whole lot of exercise I've recently picked up cycling again.
Been cycling daily for about 60 minutes (10 minutes warm - easy cycling, 40 minutes medium intensity cycling then 10 minutes cooldown / easy cycling).
Last few days I've had terrible pains in my thighs, especially when starting a session.
Feels like a short sharp pain in the upper middle part of my thighs (seems to be the vastus interdius muscle)
Now my question, am I overdoing it, not giving it enough warming up or cooling down time or is this just a normal part of the muscle development.
Thanks in advance!
Re: Thigh pains, overdoing it?
HI there,
If the pain is related only to your cycling. then the chances are you have started by doing a bit too much. A you said its been a while with no exercise. With strength training, its generally advisable to give the muscles a day to recover between hard workouts. You should try this and see if the pain goes. Let us know how you get on.
Also some people new to exercise experience a type of itching pain sensation in their legs, which may be due to the body increasing vasculature in that region to cope with the muscles increased oxygen demands as it develops, due to exercise.
Hope this helps.
