Requirements to work in Ireland

Hi,

I have just qualified from my course in London and I am trying to figure out what I need in order to work here at home.It seems that the ICSP monitor and evaluate your degree in order for it to be recognised. I am aware that in the UK you need to be registered with the HPC. Can anyone tell me if there is a similar process in Ireland and if so what is the fee to join.

I was also wondering how long it takes and if the process can be hurried up if a job is involved. Is the process with the ICSP the only process I will need to go through?

You'll have no problem registering with the ISCP as your UK qualification is recognised. Basic registration with the ISCP is €290.00 and insurance is €145.00. If you are employed in the HSE insurance is less. There is no equivalent of HPC as yet.

There is certainly an employment problem in Ireland at present, so good luck in your job hunting.

you should be ok - but the ISCP and the process is long and tedious - i am an irish national but i have a Dutch degree and it took me about a yr. I know another non national with the same degree and is still waiting over 2 yrs on. Generally they, the ISCP can be a be slow and come across as not bothered/unhelpful and unless i didnt need to be a member for my work in private practise i certainly wouldnt be a member as i feel you get little if any support! - Even more so now the way public jobs/HSE work is ... or lack there of!.
