Advice for rehabilitation of ankle after Calcaneus Fracture.
Hi I recently injured myself in a fall which resulted in a fractured heel (calcaneus). I had the accident while working in Turkey and have remained in Turkey for treatment (possible bad move). I had the accident 6 weeks ago and spent the first 5 weeks in a cast. So I have now had the cast off for one week and I'm needing some rehabilitation and physio. I have started some physio treatment here which is just ultrasound on my leg and nothing to do with my ankle. I'm not sure if they know what they are doing and need to know if I should continue with the treatment or seek something else. What other physio work would help? I am still not weight bearing and probably won't be for another week or two. Is there any exercises someone could recommend me doing? Also if I started physio treatment in say a month (when I'm back in Europe) would that be too late to be as effective? I would appreciate any advice or help. I'm finding it hard in this part of Turkey to get any quality medical care. Attachment 967Attachment 968Attachment 969Here are my CT scans from just after the accident. My latest x-ray showed good position and bone union so I'm happy with that, just need to get strength back in my ankle and full range of movement.

I'd tend to ask the orthopaedic team what they recommend for your approach in returning to a full weight-bearing state and then work on that alone. I am not sure you are going to achieve to much otherwise. As it's warm out there right now have you access to the sea and therefore swimming? Might be a better use of your time at this stage.

OK thanks for that. And yes swimming sounds like a good idea and I would be in the water right now if my Orthopaedic Surgeon didn't make a big cut right down my leg when he took my cast off. I've lost all trust in him after that episode. I think I need to seek treatment elsewhere.
