Recurrent hamstring injuries when sprinting
I am very active and usually do some sport either weight lifting, cycling or playing rugby or football about 5 times a week. In the last few months I have pulled my hamstring several times, I'm fairly good at waiting until it feels good before playing again and it doesn't bother me if I don't sprint but when I do it seems to be a matter of time before I pull it. I pulled it again sprinting in rugby on Tuesday so since then I have been icing and wearing a compression bandage to try and help it heal as quickly as possible. I would really like to know what the likely cause is (from a quick google I'm thinking I need to try and balance my leg strength by improving my hamstrings?) and the best way to rehab it if this is the case. may here i can ask:
Range of motion of your knee passive and active how are they?? full active range of motion with pain so the problem mainly from muscles [weak,tear,...] , if the range of motion obtained passively the problem again the problem in muscles,,,,,,,,,,,if the range of motion is not obtained so the problem is in joint itself!!
also we have to check the joints above and below painful area,,,,,,,,,,,and assess ur gait,and posture,ur wiegt..........
have u visited any physician/physiotherapist...............dont delay ur visit to get good result.............

I may have misunderstood your questions so if this is irrelevant then sorry but I'll try anyway.
My range of motion is good, when there is no weight on my leg I have a pretty much full range of motion. From this am I right in assuming it is probably just a tear.
I pretty confident my weight won't be a problem, im 186cm(6ft1.5) and 72kg (11stone ish..)
If it is an imbalance how would you treat it? is there an approximate way to measure how strong my quads should be in response to my hamstrings or anything?

Without being able to do a full assessment I am just suggesting areas that may be contributing to your recurrent injuries without being able to definitively say it for you.
Recurrent hamstring injuries can be hard to shake. how quickly after feeling no pain are you getting back to full sprinting and full training? Following a strain strengthening needs to be done slowly and gradually over a fair period of time. give yourself at least a 6 week window to get back up to pre injury levels.
It may also be a flexibility issue. Have the flexibility of your hips, lower back and even thoracic spine evaluated. If these areas are stiff and not moving freely your hamstrings will be working harder than they need to be, harder than they can safely achieve especially while healing.
