My first post, so, hello to everybody.
Got offers from Saford as well as Manchester Metropolitan.
Any insight into the 2 courses (I have a good idea about them but thought to ask for your help) advise,warnings etc. will be more than welcome.

Hi Im A First Year At Salford. Just Doing First Oral Exams So Pretty Stressed! Both Are Good, Apparently Ours Is Better Though. Just Last Year Moved Into Brand New Building. With More Up 2 Date Facilities. Let Me Know How U Get On.

I'm in 2nd year at MMU and the course is good - if you're dedicated to self-learning. I also had a place offered to me by Salford.
Learning is very much problem-based learning - you will be presented with a patient case and you will need to learn about the pathology and treatment more or less on your own. I like it (I found it frustrating at first). The reasoning behind it is that all students will be active learners from day one - nothing is spoon-fed to you- you learn yourself. This method is also meant to help us clinically reason our methods of treatment, rather than just treat a patient because a textbook says we should do so. I'm about to start my placements, so time will see. I'm positive though...Hope this helps;)
Hi, im a third year at salford.
I think what you need to do is take a good look at the course structure as they differ quite a lot. when i've been on placements i've met students from manchester so we've compared what we've been upto. This is things like when you take placements (i remember them only starting in 2nd) whereas at salford we had a mini 3 week one in first year which was good just to get to grips with things before you were sent out in 2nd year to have your patients. But they start their disseratation a bit earlier.
We also do learning on a problem based approach- which i have to say is the best way to learn as your finding things out for yourself, you then get together in your tutorial group to discuss it (get ued to using lots of flip chart!). The lecturer's are all supportive and you can have a laugh with them, and the new building is fab, and there's a good mix of students who live in and live at home as well as some mature and we have a couple from norway in our year. Its been a good 3 years.

First of all, thank you for your replies. It was a hard decision and yes, the course structure is very differen and i had to take this into account.
At the moment I am on an access course in Manchester that run alongside MMU and we had our Physio module there, so on one hand i wanted to continue with the femiliar campus and faces .but on the other hand the self taught course at MMU can be a bit of a problem for me because i am 36 with a mortgage and bills to pay and a 1 year old child, so as much as it is tempting, the 2 day week is (i think) a bit of a trap for me...
In salford, there is (as one of you mentioned) a new building, plenty of car parks, more frame-work and guidance (seemed to me) so, i decided to go there.
