2 Physios looking for help in working in NZ
Hey!
Me and a mate are looking to work over in NZ. I graduated in July 2006 and she is due to graduate in July 2007. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on whether we will b able to obtain registration having only carried out a 3yr course over in the UK. I have a bit of post-grad experience but my mate will only have around 1-2months post-grad when we apply.
Any advice from other physios or employers would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!:)

Hmm, I'm not sure! I'm also a physio student (I'm doing the Msc pre-reg physio) and thinking of going overseas when I finish in November this year.
I was speaking to our head of physio yesterday and she said that you don't actually need post grad experience to work in NZ. She said that if you do a 4yr BSc (the Bsc physio courses in scotland are 4yrs) or a 2 yr Msc (which I am doing) that the NZ authorities are happy with that. As long as you have done your 1000hrs of placements that should be enough, so I would think that your course would be eligable. (She said the Msc courses are also eligable becase we've already done 3yr degrees before).
I think they say you need experience but actually if you can demonstrate your 1000hrs (plus anything else you've done since) that should be fine:)
I would contact the NZ PT organisation to double check though before you fill out all the paperwork and pay the reg. fees!
Good luck!;)
Re: 2 Physios looking for help in working in NZ
sorry I've just had a look at the NZ board website and it appears that the 3yr course is not enough to get accredidted:( You do need some post-grad experience after all, though it doesn't specify really how much experience....
Sorry I was mistaken about that!
