Band Information
Hello,
I just moved from Italy. I've got 6 years of experience (6 yr neurological 3 yr of them in uro-gyeneocological rehabilitation), and 2 year ago I made a postgraduates university master in MSK rehabilitation (plus of 60 credits but it's not MSc).
Which band of pay do you think I should/could be in?
Can you also explain me what is a BANK PHYSIOTHERAPIST?
Thank you so much.
Agostino

Re: Band Information
A bank physiotherapist is a part time/casual position usually used on short term but available on an on-call basis to come in when needed. The rate of pay is hourly and it is a good opportunity when there are few physiotherapists in the market. Unfortunately there are 1000's in the UK without jobs so the bank opportunities are not as prolific as they were in the 90's and early 2000's.

Re: Band Information
It is an NHS pay grade issue. These are examples of roles and the AfC bands at which they may be paid:
- physiotherapist (Band 5)
- physiotherapist specialist (Band 6)
- physiotherapist advanced (Band 7)
I don't work in the NHS but I tend to find that they open the post that is available and plug it with the most senior person they can find. So you can find you might get a different band job depending on what's available where.
I found some 2011 info as follows:
In the NHS your income is usually known and guaranteed. Band 5 Physiotherapist can expect to earn between £21,176 -£27,625. Band 6 physiotherapy pay ranges from £25,528 - £34,189, Band 7 from £30,460 - £40,157. Finally Band 8 clinical specialists earn from £38,851-£ 55,945. All these scales are based on the NHS agenda for change pay rates. Accurate as of 1st April 2011
