Work Experience for sports therapy graduate nearing final year of physiotherapy degree in yorkshire
Hi. I am just seeking some advice in terms of gaining some work experience in sport. I have tried to contact a number of local clubs around south yorkshire, but am prepared to work anywhere in yorkshire. I understand clubs are reluctant to take students on, but thought the fact I am a sports therapy graduate (2010), coming up to the final year of a physiotherapy degree and have ran my own sports therapy clinic since 2011 would have helped.
I am simply wanting voluntary work as my ultimate goal after graduating from physiotherapy is to do a rotation in the NHS to gain experience in the different fields and then to try get into sports physiotherapy.
Any advice would much be appreciated.

I would suggest attending matches etc as a fan and getting to know the players and the clubs you are interested in. Once you have some relationship they are more likely to welcome you as a volunteer. Be careful on the insurance side of things in terms of what you are covered for vs. what you are peddling. You are not yet a physiotherapist and so should not present yourself and your assistance as such. That may seem not important to an eager near graduate however one wrong step and an action by a player against you could end a career before it starts.

Message for JonJon... I am the Club Captain of a rugby union club in Harrogate and we are looking for a physio/sports therapist to work match days for us (saturdays) during the 2013/14 season. Our matches will be throughout North, West and South Yorkshire. I am quite keen to talk to you about this opportunity.
Please email me on [email protected] for further info.
Kind regards,
Neil.
