Weight lifting knee injury (squat pain)
Hi there,
I was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice regarding knee pain.
I have been lifting weights and working my leg muscles in the gym for nearly five years now, along with playing football from time to time.
Right now I'm finding I can not put any heavy strain on my legs from things like squats without my left knee hurting, does this sound like something that would require seeing a sports physio?
I can still walk around fine and Row (which I will be doing a lot of this / next year). When i first felt pain from squatting, i stopped training my legs for 2 months, returning too them still triggered the same pain in my knee.
I was told I would struggle in later life by a Yoga instructor as I'm fairly unflexible compared to other rowers and my thighs are 24".
But yeah, in summary, Is there anything I should be doing and should I see a professional?
regards
Tony

Hello, in the short way, you might have a meniscal injury, mostly cause by squatting under 90* of knee flexion with heavy weight. football and running on hard surfaces will increase that to, try to use running shoes if you are jogging, try to avoid any weights on your legs, and yes visit a physio.
