Working abroad and student debts!
Hey,
Seeing as job prospects in the UK for new grads are awful I'm thinking of moving abroad to work (NZ). The only problem is I obviously have student debts to pay off in £sterling. I'm a bit worried about the prospect of sending money home each month and being reliant on the exchange rates....
Has anyone any experience of paying back student loans while working abroad? Is it manageable??

Hi
I haven't done it but i would guess it would be hard since its 3:1 $:£. If your thinking of trying NZ and you have studied a 3 year degree you will need extra work experience. You could try Oz as they require an exam and since you have finished your study you could do well with this.
Hope this helps

Well not neccessarily, at the moment they will accept graduates of 4yr degree programmes without experience...and some people have mentioned that if you have a previous degree in a related subject that can also count as experience....I don't know what the offical position of the board is though, I've asked myself but without submitting a full application they can't tell you anything- case by case basis etc!

Hey i have just come back from NZ after completeing my elective there for my physio degree. I have exercise and sport sci (3 yr) and physio (2 yr accl) and they said no to working there. I would really like to know if you get registered as i was asking the board if it was worth me applying ($600) and they said no. I need the 1 year work experince and thats with my family living there they are tough cookies!!!

Oh really, I've done the exact same degrees as you so if you can't get in then there is no way I can!:( Oh well, guess I'll have to think again for the time being....thanks!
