Eligibilty criteria to work as an assistant physiotherapist in Australia
Hi All,
I am an Indian Physiotherapist.
I have got permanent visa ( subclass 189 - dependent), and will be travelling to Melbourne, Australia with my husband.
I want to work as an Assistant Physiotherapist till the time i clear my registration. Please guide me on following queries -
1). What is the eligiblity to work as an assistant physiotherapist - I have a Bachelor degree in physiotherapy from India.
2). Does i need to give IELTS for working as assistant physiotherapist
3). What is the pay scale of assistant physiotherpist.

Hi Manisha, i'm not sure about the conditions of your visa (ie if youre allowed to work, type of work etc) but as a physio you are more than qualified to work as a physio aid in terms of your technical ability and knowledge. You don't need a IELTS as a physio aid (obviously the better your English- especially verbal, the better your chances of getting a job. Wages can vary significantly according to the sector (private/ public) and the individual employer, going off the AMA's website calculator (ama.com.au/node/6813#) $15.66/hour or $595.08/week for a first year health professional. This is quite low, I know physio aides that are on about $22/hr. Hope that helps .Any questions email me on [email protected]
