Wrist rotation - grinding

Hello, just wondered if I could ask a quick question with regards my doctors diagnosis of my hand.

4 1/2 years ago I had a scapholunate ligament reconstruction in my left hand and due to the loss of motion I use my right hand alot more.

6-8 weeks a go I was doing forearm muscle exercises with weights with my hands in pronation, I felt the right hand lose strength and started to flex downwards, I did feel fatigue. I thought maybe i'd overdone it so stopped going tot he gym since then. A few weeks after this I remember my wrist feeling tender as if i'd slept on it funny, during that day my hand was in supination on the table and as I twisted it back round I heard a loud crack/snap that caused slight pain.

Now when my hand is in full supination as I move it approximately 45 degrees anticlockwise there is a audible grinding and a feeling of grinding, it is also accompanied by clicking and snapping. The clicking and grinding only happen at that exact point and don't happen at any other point of rotation of my wrist. It seems to originate from either the radius and ulnar joint in the middle or the outside of the ulnar, its hard to be exact, but doesn't cause much pain, if any. The grinding/snapping happens when the hand hasn't been used for 15-20 minutes or so and probably does it 4-5 times before there is a more definitive click and it stops for a while.

The doctor says its probably tendonitis and to leave it a few more weeks to see if it settles down, but gave no advice on any stretches or even immobilization I should do in the meantime. Does Tendonitis look like a sound judgement? I'm alittle worried about the grinding and makes me think I could have damaged some cartiledge?

Following treatment methods can be employed to relieve you from tendonitis:

• You could apply ice pack to the area.
• Take anti-inflammatory medicines.
• You could perform exercises like wrist extension and flexion, pronation and supination, ball squeeze and stretch.

Does it sound like tendonitis in your opinion or maybe something else?

I'm reluctant to do stretches if it's not tendonitis, the grinding and cracking has been going on for 4 weeks now with no swelling or general pain apart from the occasional pain with grinding, maybe once a day, but that is it.

I've re booked in with the doc in 2 weeks, will probably ask to go see a specialist if the grinding and clicking hasn't stopped by then.
