Hi I would be appreciative if anyone can give me information. I have New Zeland physio registration-would I be able to register in Australia through the transtasmanian agreement without having working in New Zealand?

Yes, you can work in Aus without doing a days work in NZ- a loop-hole I am sure the AUS physio board is trying to close!;)
Yep did it myself, you have to have the nz registration the first year and then it is reccomended you stay on the non-practicing register in NZ if this is where you got your degree. Employers over here seemed very happy to accept a NZ new grad without experience when I came over 5 years ago. Some states have different rules though so check before you come over, to get registered in WA for example (5 years ago-not sure now) you had to register in NSW first then WA. Good Luck!
Thanks for the info guys! Even though its a loop hole I'm sure that not many people go that route because getting New Zealand registration is no easy feat!
I agree with you Nicola, I think I would rather take the written & clinical exams than doing the competency charts which is time consuming and taxing not just mentally but physically as well.:( But I believe going thru the australian registration is worth it....
