I have slightly amended your poll question however it does not make any sense at all. Clearly you treat which ever spasticity is presented! As you don't have both together as such you treat either one depending what you find. Of course flexor patterns are most common post stroke. Perhaps your question is not actually accurate to what you are wanting to find out. If so please send me a personal message and I will update it to something more applicable to your needs. :o
Hi Physiobob,
I have a 2 and half year old boy in ICU with brain injury and has developed a decorticate rigidity type of pattern. He is very sensitive to changes in sensory nerves and goes into the decorticate position. Is there any risk of spinal cord injury due to unbalanced extensor muscle spaticity of the trunk?
I have applied a long leg cast with 90 degress flexion of the knees and ankles and positioning to avoid hip and back extension. Though the casting is unorthodox ..Is there any other way or splinting I can do to prevent the rigidity from causing complications in the spine?
