Schmorls, Scheuermanns & A GP That Doesn't Seem To Care?

First of all, hello all! :)

Just looking for a bit of advice please...been having problems when driving for a few years now, always once in a blue moon which was getting muscle spasm/cramp like feelings in my right leg. Last october it started getting worse and happened many times over a few days, driving to and from work and also at work (i'm a mechanic). I went to see my GP and he sent me for an MRI scan.

When i got the results i was told i had Schmorls nodes, Scheuermanns disease (lower back) and also a damaged L5 disc. The first thing that i wasn't sure about was the fact my GP couldn't actually find the images from my MRI on his computer, so Googled for a random picture of an MRI scan and pointed out what was wrong with my back on someone elses! He then told me that there was nothing to be done, and in two to three years the damaged disc will fall apart and allow the vertebrae to fuse together.

I just want to know really is physio likely to help?, is a second opinion worthwhile? I'm just a bit peeved that i hardly ever go to see my GP but the last couple of times i've been i just get the 'theres nothing we can do' line, hence the fact i'm sat here with a dodgy back and a nose that i can only brethe through one side of properly.

Sorry for the bit of a rant but i feel a bit let down, my youngest son is going to Uni later in the year and its a 5/6 hour drive from here...what good am i going to be if i can only manage short distances driving...
