Project help [ clinical reasoning model ]

Hi guys,

i'm a final year physiotherapy student in NZ... and i seek ur help :) :)

I am developing an interactive clinical reasoning model for students for my project. What this intails is a break down of the subjective assessment. as in what do the questions in the subjective interview really mean? followed by a case study on shoulder pain and how we modify our hypothesis as we progress through the objective assessment.

Currently I am trying to gather data from physiotherapists how they would respond to the following questions....

any replies will be most appreciated :)

1. what is the significance of knowing about the age and gender of the patient?

2. why is it importnat to ask how the patient was referred to physiotherapy

3. why do we want to know how long the symptoms have been present for?

4. why do we want to know what caused the current symptoms?

5. why do we want to know if the symptoms are imporving, staying the same or getting worse?

6. why do we want to know if the symptoms are constant or intermittent?

7. Is it important to use the body chart when mapping the symptoms?

8. Why do we want to know about the aggravating and easing factors?

9. How important is it to ask about 'special questions' --> general health, family history, long term meds, surgeries, weight loss etc.

10. How do you deal with yellow flags?

what r yellow flags

they r flags which are yellow in colour and you give them to the patient once u have assessed them.

Yellow flags are risk factors associated with pain and disability. They are subjective and have a significant psychosocial predominance.
