Toes after a metatarsal fracture

Hi, I fractured my 2, 3 and 4th metatarsal's in my right foot when I was 29 week pregnant. The 4th fracture was displaced but due to being heavily pregnant, it was decided I would have a moon boot for 6 weeks and be weight bearing. That come off and I could walk although very slowly. I generally don't have any pain at the break site but my toes are very sore and ache when I walk. Sometimes I notice it, sometimes not but its always noticeably when I go walking for exercise. I have been wearing compression socks to try to ensure there is no fluid in my foot that could be putting extra pressure on my toes. Is this normal? The specialist did say up to a year for it to be 100% again but the sore achy toes have thrown me. Is this normal?
