Masters of Sports Physio - AUSTRALIA
Hi all,
I'm currently looking into a Post Graduate masters program in Sports Physiotherapy.
I am well aware of the LaTrobe university program but I am interested in what people thing/have experience through the other universities namely Curtin, UniSA, UniQLD and Griffith (i'm sure i have missed a few)
Thanks in advance!
Andrew
Re: Masters of Sports Physio - AUSTRALIA
I am doing mine at Curtin (finish next year after my practical placement), on top of my manipulative therapy stream, it only needs extra 3 papers. You can do most externally, plus x2 intensive blocks and x6/52 practical placement. Very economic and great learning experience. Curtin has very comprehensive approach beyond biomechanical model, which might not be emphasised on at eastern coast (its just based on what I have heard from other people, I haven't had any educational experience myself apart from short courses at eastern coast).
I don't think UniSA still running the course or they re launch next year?

Thanks Chen thats great information! Just clarifying one thing - you mentioned the manipulative therapy stream and 3 papers. 3 papers meaning?? 3 additional research papers or 3 additional subjects?
Thanks
Andrew
Re: Masters of Sports Physio - AUSTRALIA
Hi, Andrew
The 3 additional papers are different subjects. The Manips has Pain, Musculoskeletal 2 (mainly spinal manipulation, LBP...), and Practical (placement is in Hospital), while Sports steam has Sports Science (different sports), Sports Rehabilitation (mainly exercises interventions), and practical placements are in Private practice. The rest of papers for both streams are all same (maybe 2 research project papers have different focus, but the credits are transferable). So, basically if you have completed one Master in either stream, you only need to do another 3 papers to get another Masters. hope it helps. Suling
