Hi
My name is Susan and i have recently qualified as a physiotherapist. As there are no jobs in ireland for physiotherapists i am keen to go overseas to australia. I am looking for anyone who has been and worked in Australia who like me had no experience going over and did not do the Australian exams. I really dont want to do them and I am aware that you can apply to New Zealand but again you need experience! is it worth my while just chancing going over and looking for a job?

I am an english physio with a private practice in Australia, I recently employed a scotish physio who went through N.Z. paper work to get to Australia .He did not have to work in N.Z. to get here, I will ask him if he had to have experience to get N.Z. registration. I would be keen to see your C.V. as I feel it is totally unfair we are desparate for staff and you are unable to be given a good a start.:)

Does being NZ registered enable you to work anywhere in Australia? When I've investigated taking the apparently hideous and unpassable exams for getting qualified in Aus it seems we still can't work in some states...or have I misunderstood? I've now got a years experience and think it's time to abandon this small island.

I will find out for you as my new physio will be able to let me know the most uptodate info. A call to the physio registration board of each state will be the best option as yes we have a different board in each state! Im in the same boat. just qualified over in the UK and as there are no jobs in Ireland am looking at going to Aus. I dont know anyone who had gone through the process and not sure if the whole process is just too difficult to go through before Ive any real experience under my belt. would love to hear what you decide to do, maybe we can swop notes.

My friends an Australian citizen and informs me that i may be able to register in NZ (from the UK) and once approved i should be able to work in oz (no entry exams or experience necessary)
any thoughts/advice would be most appreciated

For those of you keen on working in NZ or Aus via the NZ registration process....
to be eligible for the NZ registration you need to either have:
a 4 year BSc degree (so have trained in scotland or ireland) OR
any UK BSc/MSc pre-reg in physiotherapy AND at least 1 year of post grad experience.
I did the checks myself with the NZ board and to get NZ registration there is no other way than the two options above I'm afraid. They wont budge on this, they basically want people with comparable levels of education as the NZ 4 year degree.
By the way ou can work in some Australian states without doing the exams on a temporary basis, if you check each Aus state physio website they tell you what thier requirements are.
Hi, Does anyone know if they migration accept newly registered physios who have gone through the route of an Msc Pre-registration degree rather than 3-4yr Bsc path way. I have a Bsc in sport science and will completing a Msc (2yrs) in physiotherapy and am looking to move abroad for work reasons/opportunites.

I know that South Australia will allow 12 months registration as long as the practice owner is willing to set up a mentoring program and that you can work in any one practice for 6 months on a working visa ,however you would need to contact the rgistration board directly to ask if they will accept your qualifications in this situation

Hi I am qualified physiotherapy with nearly 1 and half yrs experience. I am struggling with the decision to move to Australia to further my career as I have no idea regarding the application and registration processes involved and dont really want to have to the exams involved. Can anyone help me with this problem?? I would greatly appreciate it.
