Walking to running
Does anyone have any ideas on progressing from walking to running with someone who has neuro deficit in both lower limbs e.g. following central cord syndrome or the like? Obviously they can walk well!!!!
I have no access to gym equipment so a treadmill is out of the question.
Thanks

Re: Walking to running
Shame you can't get to a treadmill! I think the only way is to go for it, just have someone on either side who knows what they are doing and can offer some facilitation through both limbs. You're going to have a fairly good idea what will happen just from fast walking, watch out for unwanted compensations. I know central pattern generator theory has been somewhat taken appart, but I've usually found that as soon as you gain entry into an automatic system, movement patterns are surprisingly good! Hope it works, :)
