Re: Psoas spasm help please
Hi, Dave!
That's only a speculation, though the psoas also stabilizes the spine when the foot is planted. The iliacus stabilizes the pelvis when the foot is planted. Combined they become the iliopsoas and flex the hip (lift knee toward chest) when not weight bearing. To adequately stretch, spine must be stabilized and hip extended. Not talking about you, but people often do not stretch psoas correctly. Can also have spasm due to a problem with your back or sacroiliac joints. Can also have issues with the bursa in the front of the hip joint - may be inflamed and irritated by the psoas. Some ibuprofen can help if this is the case.
