Risks Of Epidurals ?

I've been considering the pros and cons of Epidurals and how best to avoid the cons .

I realise this maybe a bit off-topic but I am wondering , from others experinces here , if they are aware of any ways to achieve this ?

For example - risks with certain areas as opposed to others , types of anaesthetic used so forth.
