Uk trained- working in Aus- wanting NY

I am uk trained and have full registration (completed APC) and practice here in Australia.
I really want to get registered for New York.
I feel really overwhelmed and confused at the websites. Can anyone give me any help or tips?
Is there a ‘step by step’ guide as such?
I’d be grateful for anything.
